Current Work
Our family is engaged in a multi-year, whole-site design effort—working alongside a team of regenerative landscapers and community members to shape a place rooted in resilience and reciprocity. Here’s a glimpse of what we’re currently up to.
Planting
Rather than centering a single cash crop, we’ve chosen to steward a diverse, living landscape—celebrating the native plants already thriving here and inviting new life through intentional planting. While neighboring properties have cleared land for monocultures, we’ve taken a different path: preserving much of the native flora and planting over 75 varieties of fruit trees across four acres of sloped hillside.
Water
We’re installing a passive water-harvesting system across the northern and eastern hillsides—terraced earthworks paired with stone-lined drains that slow, hold, and guide the rain. These gentle interventions help the land absorb what it can, feeding downslope plantings while gracefully carrying away any excess—an approach that respects the contours of the land and the rhythms of water itself.
Access
We’ve designed and shaped nearly a mile of access routes across the land, thoughtfully placed to support both movement and care. In active areas, geologically-armored drainage elements help prevent erosion and invite opportunities for passive water harvesting—on site and beyond. These routes support the steady flow of people, animals, and materials, while reducing long-term wear and maintenance across the landscape.
